Hearing disorders – sensorineural hearing loss is a hearing disorder which stems from inner ear or auditory nerve damage leading to permanent hearing loss. Conductive hearing loss relates to sound waves not reaching the inner ear because of earwax buildup, fluid, or a punctured tympanic membrane. Left untreated, conductive hearing loss disorders can worsen.

Sensorineural hearing loss is often referred to as nerve damage because of its connection to the auditory nerve. This type of hearing impairment is most often caused by damage to the hair cells in the cochlea.
